On July 1, 1977, Maharashtriya Mandal’s Chandrashekhar Agashe College of Physical Education (CACPE) was established at Gultekdi, Pune.

It is affiliated to the Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune and re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade - (CGPA Score 2.85 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 31st December 2009.

The college is recognized and approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Bhopal and also recognized as a Research Centre in Physical Education to offer a range of Bachelor’s and Master’s courses in Physical Education as also an M.Phil course.

CACPE is the second Physical Education College in India and the first in Maharashtra to be assessed and accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bengaluru.

The college has taken upon itself to achieve higher quality standards in the field of physical education, which will give it a higher degree of recognition after the next evaluation.

The college spread over a sprawling area of 32 acres of land, has the requisite infrastructure and facilities and vast play fields and tracks. All the modern administrative facilities are housed in suitable buildings.

At present, the college offers co-educational courses in Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed), Master of Physical Education (M.P.Ed), Master of Philosophy in Physical Education, and Doctor of Philosophy in Physical Education for those who have completed their eligible respective graduation and postgraduation degrees with minimum aggregate of 50% from any recognized university are eligible to apply for this course.

Students here are admitted who completed their eligible respective graduation and postgraduation degrees from the recognized university with at least 50% marks in major or in aggregate at the Degree level. But Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.) & (O.B.C) candidates are to be entitled to a relaxation 5% marks ineligibility for admission.

Apart from these courses, the college also offers add-on short-term and future courses for the students to learn about their pursuing academic courses.

Various teaching and learning techniques are being used by the faculty to impart knowledge and skills to students at Maharashtriya Mandal’s Chandrashekhar Agashe College of Physical Education (CACPE) in its various departments.
